Hi spacebitch first of all you should only
"merge"
files if they are the same movie, i.e. cd1 cd2 etc. Or if you have a file with an .srt (subtitle file).
To burn seperate chapters you will need to add the first file and then add the second so you have 2 titles showing. (Basically drag and drop one at a time)
Then go into
settings
>
dvd menu
and choose a menu that will display 2 or more episodes. Staying in dvd menu I would make sure
"Auto-start playback"
is unchecked incase you insert the disc and only want to watch the second one!
[EDIT]
Then hit
"convert"
! (Oops forgot to mention that tiny little detail!) |

Yeah, I only checked one TV show so dont know if it'll be the same with all of them, and the most episodes I can put on one disc is four, which is an improvement to none at all. However, this will increase the amount of discs I'll need, probably triple the amount in fact. On average, I could get 12 episodes on one disc, and in some cases (as was the case for the first 2 seasons of 'Prison Break' and 'Supernatural'), I managed to get all 20+ episodes on one disc. I will see if there are similar aternatives out there, Nero is ok but like Crooked Ferret said it's "bloat-ware" and way over-priced. I may even consider Stevelazybones's suggestion of a digital media player, no discs at all then lol |

I'm back again with the 'merge' problem again sorry lol. I have tried merging 2 halves of a movie several times now and I'm pretty pissed off with it to say the least, the program seems simple enough so it must be me. I merge the 2nd half to the 1st half, but it doesnt work, I watch as it converts, it finishes converting first half then goes into burn. The only time it worked , it reversed the 2 halves so that movie started with 2nd half. I'm at my wit's end. I have half a dozen movies (in 2 parts) that I can't burn now. I have tried to find single file versions of these movies and they aren't available. They exist but there is zero activity on them, no seeds, no leeches, nada so therefore unable to download |

you just drag the first one into the window.then drag the next.and click convert.you'll be able to see there order in the window as soon as you drag them in,then also after you click convert you'll see the preview window with the first past encoding.and in your settings under dvd menus, you need to click the box for play titles one after the other. |

Thanks Neph, if that's the only way I can do it, then that's the way I'll do it. I just wanted to see if anyone else had this problem. If it's a common problem then I'll know it's not just me being stupid |

annep it depends which "file" you have downloaded. If you have the legitimate convertx then you will have to pay but, many torrents on here contain registration details (serial numbers) which enable you to bypass paying. If your download contains serials then register with that and the watermark is removed ...... |

And it's so much easier to add subtitles using the 'merge' tool. I could never get Nero to add subtitles when I had that, I think it also had something to do with the computer I had at the time as it died and took Nero with it |

Informative tutorial. But what ever happened to reading the instructions provided. I have used a number of VSO programs. ConvertX being one of them. I found everything I needed in the read me and configuration files. And a lot of trial and error. I have the coasters to prove it.
But now with dvd players and game consoles that will play avi formats I am finding it less necessary to convert to dvd. Now I do it for friends that don't have the ability to play avi files.
