After 2 days of fiddling, I finally got it working (it turned out to be a stupid variable name conflict). Here's the new releases system , which is the reason for the addition of the site-wide login box you see at the top left. And also why there's the screwed up forum posts and some site down time. I've posted a sample release, go there and see what it looks like.

This serves as an enhancement to the vast number of files available on IRC (and Torrents), where you can post specific releases for a group of files. There are also optional Kazaa, eDonkey and Gnutella links you can post for the release. Along with full release descriptions and a review / comment / voting system integrated with the forum, I intend this to go much beyond just downloading.

But in order for the new release system to be useful, we need more users to register and post releases. (hint hint) The system is still new, and will definitely be improved as we go along.

Also as a side effect of my frustrating debugage of the releases system, I've went to great lengths of compiling and installing the newest Apache and PHP versions. Site may run faster / stabler, who knows.

Maybe the site will run faster, yet i found a major bug when using mozilla (1.5, other may be affected): when clicking on releases and selecting category, no matter what you click you always get the movie category instead.

This is not a bug, it's a feature Laughing

if you read the page carefully there's a line in bold:

No release found by "", 45 releases found for all releases.

Right now all releases are movies gather by a bot I wrote, and I have it so when there is no results returned, it defaults to showing all releases available. Same thing happens when you try searching for a specific release and it found no results.

On the other hand, i found a JS bug in Firebird 0.7 which causes the "servers" slideout page in the files search results to be empty. If you have this problem in Mozilla 1.5 then this would be a new bug introduced into Gecko recently, as earlier versions of Moz / Firebird had no problems. I'm curious to know if you have this problem, if so I'll submit a bug report when i have time (or you can do it for me). The firebird bug has to do with the inability to set IFRAME_ELEMENT.src to a string using javascript.

Checked, and yes the server page is empty, so it seems like a new gecko bug. Hope i helped.
