I enjoy file sharing, which keeps me up on the latest from my favorite TV shows, Movies..and music. I also enjoy sharing my music. Thanks to all the uploaders, and fellow leechers for seeding! |

A, C and D, I guess.
Being involuntarily retired, I can no longer afford to buy too many discs or watch movies. I used to go to a 4.5 hour Saturday movie for $.17, the last time I went to a movie with my SF Book club, it coat me $7. I don't download pop music.
I have a collection of over 1100 VHS tapes, and since I ca't find a way to convert them, I am trying to download copies. These are mostly of old SF TV shows, which I downloaded for time-shifting purposes.I also have over 800 DVDs full of material I've downloaded, a lot of it copies of VHS stuff. Some of the material goes back over 4 years.
I would estimate that 80% of my collection is copies of material from my VHS collection(since I do not know how to convert them), about 10% is downloads of TV shows not available locally, and the rest is anime/manga/ebooks that I have collected from local interest groups A lot of this is things I discovered while looking for other things.
My local library reduces my need to download stuff, since they have a large and growing collection of DVDs, Manga, and audio and ebooks that circulate.
On the other hand, I have a collection which includes many older recordings on regular and LP discs, as well as some audio discs, Cassette and 8-track audio tapes, and commercial DVDs and VHS tapes of some of my favorites. |

We have still bought DVD's from store ( Dont know why ) The family with Grandkids do go to cinima in that realy costs big time expcialy if you get juce and a popcorn

since our library recently eliminated rental fees on movies, I try to find older favorites which are not currently available. Right now, I am looking for a copy of the Danny Kaye movie "Merry Andrew", to go with my audio disc.
When I download something, I usually seed it for about a week for a slow torrent. |

None of the above and none of the ABCD choices.
Downloading is just one of my channels to get content. As for movies, I also have Netflix (movies by mail and online). I tend to watch series I like via P2P first, but I usually end up buying the boxsets, sometimes used, I don't care. The cable is part of my rent but my big TV is used only for DVDs.
As for music, I think YouTube is a much better way to discover songs and artists than P2P. I haven't downloaded a single song via P2P yet. So far, I prefer audio CDs that I rip lossless into my media library (and in MP3 format too for mobile usage). I buy most of my CDs used, sometimes as cheap as 1ct, but of course with shipping it's $3 or more, probably $8 on average.
I find that P2P has its limitations, you can find anything mainstream, and with lots of seeds and peers too, it's not so cool for special or passed interests. But yeah, I have far too many CDs and DVDs, thousands of each, that is madness for one person. |

I use torrents to download music and movies. Occasionally I get a program or two. I never download television shows because there is nothing on TV that is worth watching anyway. I am sitting here trying to think if there is a single torrent that I have downloaded that was not copyrighted material. I think once I was trying to get a free program and was directed to a torrent site to obtain it. Other than that it has all been copyrighted.
I don't have a lot of money, so I wouldn't have bought any of this material in the 1st Pl.. I just would have done without it. The copyright holders have not lost any money from purchases that I would have made if torrents did not exist.
I have done many illegal things in my life, and downloading torrents is the least of it. I don't feel guilty about it at all. I sleep just fine at night. Except when I stay up late at night to search for torrents. |

The first two, and a bit of the third. I have a running list of things I want to support, but as I'm currently unemployed, and my savings are tight, my ability to do so is limited. Though, sometimes, I don't even know where I'd get most of the stuff I have if I were to go looking for it offline (mostly really old/obscure/foreign movies, cartoons that haven't been released on DVD, odd music, etc).
I also seed economics books, in the hope that someone will find them informative and help stop the careening engine of death that is the post-Depression economy. |

I download this and that on torrents.
There are several things that are not free, but I don't agree I have to pay for them.
Like classic music, or old music. When I downloaded Beatles albums, I didn't understand why I had to pay for them on iTunes. Beatles wouldn't get a single penny of my money, so I don't feel like I have to pay to SOMEONE, who has nothing to do with the things I buy. |

i have been using iso and other torrent sites for a while. my reason is that, if you buy a jacket and you dont like it you can take it back. if i go see a movie and it sucks i can get a refund its just tuff, if i buy an album and it sucks i cant get a refund. When i download a torrent and the film or album is good i will go buy it without the worry that it is crap. We should have a choice.
I have seen some comments from actual film directors on imdb telling people not to download films as it hurts them. Thats rubbish, without torrent sites like this some films wouldnt have made any money. Look at Donnie darko, bombed at the cinema, but word of mouth through sites like this made it a massive hit.
It cost millions to promote a film with no need, release a version on these sites at no cost (and although they wont ever admit it, some studios do) and get a real honest feedback. |

As a resident of the UK, who after visiting the USA realized how much we pay for both CD's and DVD's in my country I down load for free.
I also download for free because I dont want to wait a year to see a further season of some American TV programmes.
I support this industry by paying my TV licence and Sky, I support this industry by going to the cimema regularly and like wise buying tickets to see live gigs. |

i started using isohunt over 4 years ago to get all my vinal records i used to have on cd as a few of them was not available anymore. i then ventured into films as it costs a lot of money to take out a family of 6 to the pictures forcing me to get the film & watch it at home instead.
its got to be C & D mainly for me. |
