Here you can post your top list of R.P.G.-s, and discuss each and every one of them, hope you enjoy.
And also, i would like to discuss here about the future of the Gothis series.
I voted for 50-50, but it's posible it will be better, of what i saw in the screenshots, though i hope they keep the atmosphere and atach a good story with many dialogues (intelligent ones).
This discussion is also dedicated to what has beacome of the former famous Gothic and Fallout series. |

Well Gothic 3 was alright, apart from the crashes all the time, dunno if they fixed that though.
However if a Gothic 4 comes out, i will definitely try it.
However its not gonna beat Oblivion or Fallout3, which in my opinion is the top of the RPG list. |

Well, Oblivion is the best of The Elder Srolls, no doubt, but it sure doesen't beat fallout or gothic at the title of RPG.
Since Gothic 3 and Gothic 3 FG were totaly crap in engine, i must agree that this year Fallout 3 is the best rpg, although it's the worst of all the fallouts released (with this, i exclude f:tactics), it just isn't right, it has almost no rpg characteristics, most of them are shooter.
Once it was like this:
Now it is like this:
What i say is:
Far better graphics, but far worse RPG compared to the other Fallouts, honestly i'd rather give the prize to Oblivion.
So, this is what i think would be the top list of rpg-s and yes, they are old (some of them):
Gothic 2:Night of the Raven
Gothic 2
Gothic
Fallout
Arx Fatalis
Fallout2
Thief (not the average rpg, but who cares), the entire series
The Witcher
TES 4:Oblivion
Fallout 3 |

Does Black & White Count?...I really liked that but is more a strategy/rpg combo I suppose. But I liked it for all the puzzles related to the gods that you had to accomplish outside of your initial goals, all games could learn from that one I think, like side missions for bonuses those types of things, or faster leveling or whatever that game might relate to the games storyline or actions.
I am going to have to go with Neverwinter Nights though I suppose, I like any of the D & D type rpg's, but I like all these too man, and the Witcher on this list of mine, might give you a few ideas of game titles you might have missed that I have since I like all the ones I have actually bought and the ones on your list. check 'em out, these are just my fave rpg's and strategy games though not all of them..lol

keep roaming the dungeons I say, until they cleared out, man I didn't realize was 4 months since last post, but a lot of good new rpg's now and WOW is expanding again, I don't think anyone will ever be able to beat that, "trully" beat it..lol |

Hey!, I mentioned Baldur's Gate on my list that you can get too with that link up there Mr. ywe..lol, and might be some like that you haven't played even. . I did forget to put Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Ahm, I love that one too, and Throne of Bhaal, I didn't mention Tales of the Sword Coast either, or Dark Alliance..lol Wish they would have made BG3:The Black Hound, because it was in development.
I did say I love or like all of the "actual" advanced dungeons and dragons licensed rpg's though, and I do mean all of them, and almost all done in that type game format. Icewind Dale was a Baldur's Gate expansion and was on my list^, but missed Ahm, and didn't mention all the Icewind Dale's. But it was an Interplay Entertainment(Black Isle Studios really, but they closed that division in 2003) production really, Baldur's Gate was, they did Fallout 2 as well, and this Planescape one I am about to mention and many others.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Isle_Studios
These 2 are a twin pack I bought in 1999, and I like them both, and both on my other list. These are by Interplay Entertainment 'Planescape:Torment' and 'Soulbringer', and the first uses the Bioware Infinity engine...I found Torment here but no good Soulbringer files. This, was voted the 1999 RPG of the year by Computer Gaming World, Gamespot and is a AD&D licensed game..
http://isohunt.com/torrent_details/106324201/torment?tab=comments
I think the Neverwinter Nights are the best though, just because they are the newest ones and have added more options for characterization, better graphics and upgraded the advanced D&D rules. I mean the AD&D rules are always changing, they just released a new Eberron Campaign book for DM's in July, so somebody somewhere is still playing the dice version somewhere. Do you play Stormreach online?, I like that one better than WOW, but I am a AD&D freak. I like that the pc is the DM for you in these games, so you "can" play by yourself, without dice, but I like DM'ing for others.
The first NWN(platinum or diamond versions) had a lot of expansion packs, or modules we would say in real dice played AD&D games, Hordes of the Underdark, Shadows of Undrentide, Wyvern's Crown, Witch's Wake, Shadow Guard and the Kingmaker set. I like almost all games made by Wizards of the Coast, check them out and you will find even more RPG types, they are the ones behind Magic:the Gathering trading card game as well, and the Magic Xbox game(Duels of the Planeswalkers) or try Interplay they might give you some new games to try, or wait for at least..hehe...Here is the results page for here, NWN2 is up to 2 or 3 expansions already..
http://isohunt.com/torrents/?ihq=neverwinter
For a modern one (2006) I like Dark Messiah:Might and Magic, has a little bit of everything, but not really a D&D style RPG, an Action-RPG I would say, but a fun game..
http://isohunt.com/torrents/?iht=-1&ihq=dark+messiah+might+and+magic
I did forget to mention one on my list that is pretty fun but an older game. It is called 'Age of Wonders' and is like 'Majesty' kind of..
http://isohunt.com/torrents/?iht=-1&ihq=age+of+wonders
.keep gaming can't be you folks don't have some of these, especially the Black Isle list. I am getting the NWN 2 platinum file thats over 16GB myself right now, my 2 exp. discs got cracked in a moving away move for the last hurricane we had here..
*Edit for pacman-did you know that almost all rpg's for consoles even use a D&D rules to rate monsters you fight against, if not the system to lev up characters as well? It really is awesome as there are no flaws in the logic of AD&D, everything has a meaning and an outcome, or a "reason", directly related to personal traits of a character or beast of some kind. It is helpful info is what I mean if you play these types of games, to "know" the system. Here is an example of, Zelda Ocarina of Time, to show you what I mean, and might help you beat the tough witch at the end..lol..if you haven't already..
http://www.dungeonbrew.blogspot.com/?gclid=CL_n2-T12JwCFRpdswodSzhMnQ
awesome universe of its own dungeons and dragons is really, but a lot of other game platforms use it's concepts..
PS edit--I forgot to add this one too, I have really been waiting for this too and is made by Baldur's Gate people as well, Dragon Age, comes out in November 09, all right Christmas gift..hehe..they have a role playing table top version of this too..

Bioware has awesome game "cred" in my eyes... |

Blasphemy! Oblivion can't hold a candle to Morrowind!
And I played Gothic 2 - it was okay - tried 3 - hated it! I haven't heard of 4 but if I'm bored enough at the time of release I might check it out.
But then again my standards are ridiculously high and I rarely even give most things a chance.
The only pseudo-RPGs I've ever played that are even worth commenting on in a good nature are;
Best of the best - Blizzard's Diablo 2. This game is a classic.
Final Fantasy Tactics, the original. I still love that game. It's too epic.
Morrowind
Star Wars Galaxies (immersive exciting economy - I didn't think those words could be used together like that til I played this one)
SW: Kot[o]R
Zelda (one of the first games I played)
Pokemon (same as zelda)
Fable and Baulders Gate were good, but BG made me twitch at the inconsistencies with Forgotten Realms (amongst other things) cannon. And Parasite Eve was a good one too.
But ultimately it's like the cliche says, as time passes it seems there is less and less heart put into games, especially franchises. |

The only thing I hate about Fallout 3 (besides its gravity-engine, which can make me RAGE or LOL) is the 30-level-max...
WWWHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYY???????????????
Considering the amount of perks, they could easily have made it 40 or 50...
who's with me..? |
