Okay, I put up with a lot of obnoxious advertising, including popups and "Please view this ad for 15 seconds before continuing" advertisements. These advertisements can be annoying, but they generate the income that keep my favorite sites alive. I've quite often clicked advertisements because I was interested in the product they illustrate, or even just to support the website I'm viewing. However, there's one form of advertising that I just refuse to live with... talking advertisements.

Every time I touch my computer I have music playing. Most people enjoy listening to music while they browse the web, and NOBODY appreciates an advertisement that interrupts their music. It's different from radio commercials because those come in between songs. Talking advertisements are forced upon you right in the middle of whatever you're listening to.

Personally I consider these talking advertisements to be an unwanted invasion of my computer. Visual advertisements don't prevent me from viewing websites, but talking advertisements DO prevent me from listening to whatever else I have running on my computer. What if I were to be listening to an important instructional recording when one of these talking advertisements came up? Though this scenario doesn't occur frequently, it DOES happen and COULD have damaging effects. From my perspective this constitutes an advertising mechanic that should not only be frowned upon, it should be illegal.

What do you think?

run a popup blocker or a script blocker and you wont have to worry about it...i agree that sites have the right to advertise what they see fit to suit their website...they need money to survive and to keep sites free like isohunt so advertising is necessary

I use popup blocker and I still get (congratulations you have won). This is the only ad that makes me want to choke someone. It comes up every time I click on anything. I understand isoHunt has to be paid for, but this one is a bit much.

Then a family member/roomate/friend/ walks in... What exactly were you looking at?

Yep if you see a talking ad on here report it and IH will take it down.

I am leaving this one as it is geared towards talking ads in general.

some ads are just unavoidable. most pop-up ones can get blocked with a software for it. but the banner ones are stuck to the site... but some are really funny. but so annoying. so very annoying. like those damn emoticon ones that go " hellllllllllloooooooooooo" ahhh drives me crazy. but i like shooting 4/5 plates so i come sooo close to getting a " FREE LAPTOP". its good target practice. Smile

If you had a big website and you're spending lot and lot and got nothing coming back you will feel that you should do something first step is you will grab some ads that will bring you money and then the donation button Wink

And also other ways

im not really talking about this site in particular. this site isn't too bad as far as ads go. just the standard "evony" elf chick and the " obama or osama" ad. which, may i add..makes no sense. what are they even asking? im mostly talking about other sites with their ads and lack of "click here for donations" option
