Hi,

I downloaded a movie, it plays perfect in vlc but when I placed it on DVD and watched it in DVD player on TV it had two problems.

1) It did not fit the TV, the subtitles where only partially visible at the bottom.
2) It lags (this could be dvd player falut).

How can I make sure the movie fits well (the dimensions I mean) on TV?

Hey Karl..

What lags? audio, video or subs? Use convertxtodvd to for burning discs..

Check the TV's or DVD player's remotes to see any screen settings on which you can set "fit to screen" rather than playing its original resolution (16:9 or 4:3 preferences). Check what it plays well; NTSC or PAL (TV's standard)..then use convertxtodvd or any other burning program to convert the video(s) accordingly while putting them on your dvd. Just match what you burn, with your TV's specs (Google the TV models' specs) if you can't find screen settings on remote; and to avoid lags..

Hi,

What lags was the video... I did try to modify the tv screen size using the tv remote also tried using the dvd player remote it just could not fit.

The manual says Display Resolution:1366 * 768 there's nothing else I could find whether pal or not, I didn't see the word NTSC anywhere in manual.

The manual for this Samsung UE26EH4000 doesn't say anything.

I think Samsung LEDs support both NTSC, PAL; dunno what your DVD player supports. Use convertxtodvd for burning DVDs
https://ca.isohunt.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=178405 – Convert X to DVD

While installing convertxtodvd, there's a region-wise option will show up like PAL (Europe, Africa, Asia...etc) and NTSC (US, Canada, Japan etc); pick one accordingly. Check this.. http://shop.sandbag.uk.com/OneGiantLeap/PALNTSCInfo.html for DVD players format supports..

Then after installing, go to the DVD specifications option of convertx; you'll see "Format (Video Standard)" > Select "Automatic" and set Aspect Ratio to > 16:9; On the DVD Resolution part..set it to "Full D1"...that's the best quality of 720*480 (NTSC) or 720*576 (PAL); as your Res is 1366*768...If not then go for lower qualities. Try few settings on a DVD using convertx...

Any doubts you may get while installing or if you want any screenshots of settings, feel free to ask..

If you have a widescreen tv, you just need to select the "letterbox" option in ConvertXtoDVD then you're good to go.
