download/upload

hi new to irc but been around torrents for a while with torrents upload as much or more than download and were all happy but in irc how do you 'give back'

sorry if this is a stupid question but on bit torrent a lot of sites ban you if you dont keep at least 100% up/down

you serve on IRC channels and upload to other ppl, just like how you downloaded from them. XDCC would be closer to the BT style of big and new files, while fserves are like FTP and suits smaller, older files better.

I recommend getting a server script like SysReset for mIRC, it has xdcc / fserve serving functions

From those of us that do serve... we really aren't expecting anything in return.. it's just one of those things, ya know? Cool

Besides, by serving you normally get access to things without a queue time!
Really is a hit n miss game, find yourself monitoring your downloads far more than you do with BT , as servers come and go all the time throughout the day. For the love of God, make sure you got files set to "resume"
