Since my post on our support of Creative Commons, I've come across many more examples of great independent content distributed by BitTorrent and indexed on isoHunt. Here's a showcase of the latest and new developments in our support for Creative Commons.

First off, our friends at Ah.fm continues to host specular events and we fully support them with our Canadian relay for Ah.fm's radio, and our index of their great music. If you don't know about them, definitely check out their trance music.

Next we have 2 great indie film productions. First is new raw footage of interviews from Steal This Film, a documentary on clash of internet/P2P tech with traditional media and intellectual property laws, a topic I know none too well. They distribute all their Ogg and HD footage under Creative Commons so they definitely stand by their own word. Both their documentary and new raw footage is indexed here. The second film is Insecurity, a film released also in Creative Commons from Australia. Check our their isoHunt release and our members' good comments on it.

Now for some less well known stuff I came across, check out this example of Jusdafide using Myspace and isoHunt for distributing their music. Although there's inherent problem with using Myspace for musicians, but that's topic for another day. And then there's this member who wrote me about his torrented film on garden gnomes. The great thing about BitTorrent is that you can make and distribute anything you want in HD glory, with next to $0 cost.

Last and certainly not the least, I'm proud to announce our partnership with Jamendo, a premier archive of Creative Commons music from a network of independent musicians. You can now see Jamendo originated torrents highlighted by white tabs labeled "Jamendo Verified" in our search results, and here's a list of their torrents indexed on isoHunt. Their torrent descriptions also come in full HTML glory, like this one. In return, Jamendo is choosing isoHunt as their search engine for global torrents beyond their music database.

An important note to you when you search is that from select sites such as Jamendo, torrents under our Releases, and our sister sites Torrentbox and Podtropolis, torrents from these verified sites are highlighted by white tabs and labelled by "[site] Verified". This is a way we are combatting spam, that highlighted Verified torrents are usually spam and virus-free. We welcome similar partnerships to include other authentic torrent sources in the future.

Another note is that we have tagged torrents with special keywords, such as CreativeCommons and PublicDomain for Creative Commons and Public Domain content respectively. These are special keywords tagged for known torrents with respective licensing (or unlicense in case of Public Domain) and are not exhaustive lists. We'll tag more torrents as we know about them. Now go download these without fear of legal prosecution, their creators want you to download them. (if they are still alive Wink )

Great news on the partnership with Jamendo, IH

One release that a few people seem to like on Jamendo: www.jamendo.com/en/album/17373

As well as Jamendo, there is also another great site!: www.blocsonic.com

They filter through the mass of free music & select the best 10 tracks they find & release them as compilations; sometimes as a theme or specific concept.

If you click on releases (on the right), you'll see all the different compilation volumes. Each volume has its own booklet & tray card in pdf format, so if you (like me) still like things in physical format you can print it out....
It's also definitely worth reading his introductions in the booklet that he does for the majority of his releases.

Well I can't say I knew much about Jamendo until I read your post. Did some digging up on the net and found the best most concise description on Wikipedia Smile:

"Jamendo is a music website and a community of music authors.

All music on Jamendo is free to download and licensed through one of several Creative Commons licenses or the Free Art License, making it legal to copy and share, as well as to modify and make commercial use of for some, depending on the license. Jamendo allows streaming of all of its thousands of albums in either Ogg Vorbis or MP3 format, and downloads through the BitTorrent and eDonkey networks."

Now I think it's quite cool that you've teamed up with Jamendo. I always used to think torrent sites were full of illegal downloads and stuff, but I now know better Very Happy. Good luck with the partnership and all Wink
