When using uTorrent my access to the internet stops working. U Torrent is still downloading but I can't access the internet. I have to restart then it works ok till next time. This is happening on a daily basis now for the last 2 weeks.
Any help would be nice, thanks, Mike. |

limit your global connections in your settings... set it about 200 rather than 0 as 0 is unlimited
also limit your download speed to 75% of what your ISP provides
basically what utorrent is doing is clogging your tubes |

I set it as above. Also I did change my service from 6 mbs to 12 mbs but it doesn't seem like that would have caused the problem, maybe if I had of dropped it down to 3 mbs.
Changing the Settings to 200 rather than 0 & download speed to 75% of what your ISP provides, my connection dropped so I restarted & will see what happens. |

If you have lowered your internet speeds, have you perhaps gone onto a lower tariff that limits your bandwidth after a set amount?
15gb maybe?
Just a thought. |

I have had that problem in the past when my bandwidth was not really all that great.
To be honest I would usually just shut down uTorrent until I was finished surfing and then fire it back up. If I was not doing anything that required high bandwidth then I would just throttle my upload a bit. |

I have never been able to get torrenting to work reliably on a wireless connection.
The behavior I get is similar to what you describe. The only fix for me was to use a regular wired connection.
Though I never was clear by what was said above if you were on a wireless or not.
The next thing I would blame is the router. |

I have a wired connection, I did change my service from 6 mbs to 12 mbs but it doesn't seem like that would have caused the problem, maybe if I had of dropped it down to 3 mbs. Another computer on a different router is having the same problem. I did notice that my ISP location changed from LA Ca to Wichita Ks.
I did this,
“”””“I had the same problem setting my connection up properly and using peerblock are what helped me
http://www.utorrent.com/documentation/connection-setup
http://isohunt.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=293049””””
So far my Net hasn’t dropped since I did the above about 6 hrs ago. I’m going to let the uTorrent run all night then check in the am. If it holds I’ll see if the other computer still has the problem. If not I’ll do that computer the same way. |

glad to hear it worked for you too
C_F i'd suggest to update the drivers for any wireless modem type device,
i use wireless usb and had intermmittant reliability problems until i downloaded and installed some updated drivers |

Letting uTorrent run all night the next day I couldn't acces the net. It might be the new uTorrent I downloaded when it asked if I wanted it. I'm going to see if I can go back to an older version. |

1.8.2 is the best version I have found so far. It is accepted by all (or most) of the Private sites and does not have any of the problems I was experiencing with the newer versions. |
