I am a fairly new user. I came to like isohunt best because of the easy-to-read comments.

What were the legal reasons for removing comments from the new lite version?

Is there anyway for us sad users in the US to find those comments again?
i am stuck with the US IH/lite
good news is - comments area can still be accessed
after search with IH/lite results:::
click the hash alpha-numeric code (which will give a google search for that hash)
then click on the result with isohunt - brings you back to the torrent for your commenting pleasure(usually the summary tab or a direct torrent link download - from summary can easily get to comments... and leave one too! - i have and will continue to utilize the comment feature)

there are some US members that use proxie to access classic IH, i do not

I'm also in Canada and using a Canadian ISP yet I'm always forwarded to the Lite site as if I was in the US. Any fix for this?

You should be able to click the hash link which will take you to Google. The first link is often to IsoHunt's usual torrent details page. That should help you out for now.

Sorry that I didn't catch your question sooner. What browser are you using? I quickly threw the Javascript code together for FireFox. If you are using FF, an add-on, setting or internet security suite/antivirus could be preventing it from working.

If you're using IE, this should work:
Code:
javascript:var%20aTags=document.links;var%20i;for(i=0;i<aTags.length;i++){if(aTags[i].innerHTML.substr(3,10)=="%20Comments%20"&&aTags[i].href.indexOf("/lite/files/")>-1)void(aTags[i].href="http://isohunt.com/torrent_details/"+aTags[i].href.split("/")[5]+"/?tab=comments",aTags[i].innerHTML+="%20(Fixed)");}

(The DOM and links collection is different in IE. I changed it to get the "innerHTML" property instead of the "text" property)

EDIT:
Forgot to disable HTML code in the post.

I would suggest re incorporating the thumbs up and thumbs down feature, maybe not comments, but at least better ranked torrents could be shown first....

The April 4th announcement on the IsoHunt Lite index page says:
Quote:
On isoHunt Lite you get ranking by constantly updated seeds/leechers and ratings, statistics specific for BitTorrent, in addition to search relevancy and age.

I think you meant that you would like to be able to sort your results by ratings alone. I think that sort option and your ability to rate torrents from the search page was probably left out intentionally. It's supposed to be more like a regular search engine for users accessing the site from the US.

Copyright groups dislike this site with a passion. It keeps IsoHunt, the site, in a constant chess game. Initially the functionality of the search engine and the site itself was probably meant to be much more. The chess game makes it very difficult for the site to even operate, but that's just another one of their intentions.

The search engine and site isn't what it used to be for Americans, but it's better than nothing. Only the Americans are supposed to have to use the reduced/changed/lite version. I'm glad IH gets up and fights every morning. Not everyone would do the same. I'm sure everything will improve over time.

Visit http://isohunt.com/lite/ to see what the lite version looks like.
Cheers

Thanks NICK, why are the Americans being ostracized? Is it because they smell or something more sinister? Who are the ppl instigating this? Who are 'our' (I consider this to be my site as well) ppl i.e. lawyers handling this situation? This sounds actually quite real and quite serious..

Edit: Nah, just read the thing you had a link to, there is no right there for them. It has to be a government 'demand'......

an attempt to comply with court orders.... i think, somewhere along those lines

hey now, i bathe and wear man perfume ( cologne - most days ) so not stinky, but i haven't been wearing my tinfoil hat and may be a pawn/part of the sinister plot and thus unable to realize that it exists

right now? California courts - ultimately aliens/illuminati/FSM/eris...

@lotto

    We actually have to use the search up there. Try it out. I wasn't really linking to the announcement. I should have explained that better.

I'm still having these issues since day one.

Someone on here who runs the site did something once and it worked, for about a week then back to lite. I've tried releasing/renewing my IP and rebooting the modem but same deal.

Some days I get the regular ISOHunt and other days the system thinks I'm in the USA and redirects me to the ISOHunt Lite instead.

I'm a few hours North of the border in Ontario, small rural ISP called HAY.net.
