Do not get me wrong ; I own a 360 too - but the PS3 is an all around better console, its a media hub, not just a games console.

One other item for your list.
Sony have recently won the latest 3d battle and the Sony version supported by PS3 will be adopted as the new format for 3d films.
Lots of distributors are selling 3D versions of Bluray films but the shit is that they are all using their own type of 3D glasses with different colours.
This means that all future films with 3D will work on a PS3 but many bluray players out there do not have the correct hardware to utilise it.
On another note PS3 still cost less than many stand alone bluray players.
Now with all of that said I am a xbox 360 gamer with a PS3 for my movies. So no fanboyism implied here. |

^^ yeah, remember reading about the 'standardised 3D' format agreed about a month or so ago.
Shame most of us will need a new 3DTV for the 'best' effect. |

it depends, Philips started with 3D tv's and then stopped. hyundi took overt and philips are back in the game after second thoughts.
However the film industry is looking to higher level saturation in the short time.
Many people have just upgraded to flat line tv plasma lcd and more recently led screens. the volume of owners will not switch so fast to yet another format. This is where Sony have won big time in my opinion. Bluray with 3D plus glasses is the immediate future and they have set the standard.
Journey to the center of the earth and coraline are both different. If the war continued we would all have ten different eyeglasses and not remember what went with which film.
In this respect Sony have done good. The 3D tv screens are expensive and in short supply and will not overtake the present industry saturation at consumer level of flat screens as consumer life for a screen after initial investment is around 5 years.
So, wait 3.5 more years and upgrade or go with the eyeglasses. |

3D is the next big thing, and yes, some will (or already are) on sale, but I see the bigwigs pushing it hard over the next year, trying to force us to upgrade.
I am in no rush, I am quite happy sitting at home with my glasses (ok, so red and green is a bit of a washout when watching a bluray - Coraline, Polar Express & Journey to the Centre of the Earth I am looking at you!) - but with this new 3D Standard, I assume the films will be using the black tinted glasses? I hope so - allowing me to watch in 3D, yet still in colour
I am yet to see a film in 3D using these glasses btw ; how does the experience go? Can anyone shed some light on the subject for me.
Kinda gotten off topic here lol |

Argh here 3D comes I'm still with my Standard Definition Sony TV
And this Samsung 22 Inch PC Monitor (2253BW) - I use this for my PS3 and also sometimes for my PC
Currently I'm using it for my PS3 because I don't have anything to keep me busy with the PS3 |

off topic is probably my fault so apologies to OP.
The 3D standard with the use of glasses has been finalized so no more wondering with set goes with which film.
The darker glasses are quite exceptional with use by Philips and Hyundi other brands I have no experience just yet. I am aware of these due to usage in the trade shows and exhibition events. There is also a 3D where glasses are not required and it is simply astounding. A popular adverstising clip is that of PINNOCHIO where his dammed nose makes you duck as it appears to just sweep straight out of the screen when he turns his head. How this works? No idea. Does it work? bet your life it does. Brand of screen?? I am 99% sure it was a )*(& but refrain from saying as I truthfully cannot remember. 1 of them was being used by a booth on the China Semicon show begin March. |

Would you think the FIFA World cup game warrants a purchase then?.....Because i only bought FIFA10 for my 360 just over a month ago and although the WC game looks a lot more polished, i dont know wether its worth shelling out another 40 notes for....
This has been the first FIFA game i've bought for around 10 years because i always thought the gameplay was a distance behind the PES series and that was always my footie game of choice, but i have to say i'm lovin' FIFA now, the only disapointing thing is the transfers because you cant just throw in massive bids in for the world class players and have to make do with the ones that are on the market or whatever your scouts can dig up.
I'm also seriously considering getting a PS3 though just to get my hands on God of War 3....the first 2 on the PS2 just blew me away!!
Nice goals there BTW MrX and should i precure a PS3 i will happily give you a match |

Well, I was wondering that ; but after playing the demo to death, yes, its a very different game, it plays a lot like proper football.
FIFA 10 is immense dont get me wrong, but FIFA WC just adds something else, takes away the niggles that FIFA10 has (rushing keepers!), and the game really really plays like football. You get right involved.
As for PES - mate, I was a PES player since the days of ISS - but, once FIFA08 came out - and I gave it a go, compared to how crap PES has got over the last three years. FIFA is definately the conniseurs choice for football.
Roles have definately been reversed. PES rested on their laurels, EA did not, they listened to us players, and improved it for us players, PES just imprved things THEY thought needed adddressing, and simply ignored us! Hence it being crap now.
So yes, I think its a worthy purchase mate. Its everything that FIFA 10 should have been!
So yeah, get a PS3 - I shall give you a game at anything
I have a 360, but I dont pay for LIVE - I despise having to pay to play online when I already shell out enough for the console in the first place, and then the games on top. |
