Now Halo like it or hate it did cover some pretty good ground and as a stand alone game it was pretty epic in regards to content and gameplay. The recent addition of the anniversary release my better half came home with the other day. I kinda thought yeah I has that already but kept quiet and to keep her happy I put in the console and had a look at it.
1st off I must say it is an improvement. They have not rehashed it as a makeover but have added a little more depth and colour. It plays well and is to be honest quite cool. It does not feel dated and my only nag is dual weapons is out, but then again with a single weapon is not really an issue.
I was interested to see what the gimmick of 3D would be like and to be honest I found it impressive. The graphics do not have the lustre and detail of say Crysis but still the game 10 years on with the depth added by 3D (using the passive polarized glasses) is definitely a wow factor. I have just played gears 3 for a second time also in 3D but I do like the effect in Halo a little more. Detail in Gears 3 being a new game is higher but the game for me was over in about 7 hours. Halo on the other hand will keep me busy for at least double that i expect..... not to sure as i have played it so often in the past.
An aspect i like with the xbox 3D games is the ability to adjust the depth of the 3D effect...... possible on the PS3? don't know as i have one but use at as a BR player and only have 2 games for the console.
Anyways considering the manner in which Halo has been improved without overkill on gimmick or additions I am quite looking forward to the next instalment as it appears the software crew 343 industries know what they are doing.
Pricewise I think 40 bucks is a bit steep but released in time for the holidays so I expect it will drop quite a bit in the near future. If you find it in a bargain box or maybe check out a friend that has it then i would certainly recommend having a couple of hours of gameplay as even in 2D it is impressive and fun.

I think it looks great, It released here for €34.95, I bought it in Tesco's for that anyway. Apparently its made on the same engine as Halo:Reach, but yeah I like it alot Smile
