World War III? Will it happen?

I love how things like this always show people believe it will happen in their lifetime.

some people want to believe it's something they will never have to deal with, so they can do what-ever they want to who-ever they want and not have to worry about any consequence for their actions

Yes there will be a 3rd...Scary isn't it...

But what type of war?

War is not just 'shoot 'em up' Texan style.... There are also (not me) inter..intallek....interlectu.....smart people out there that are, unfortunately, not intelligent but smart. This will slow the process of reconciliation down a bit but the eventual reality shall prevail....The waR shall continue for some time to come (and yes it will include the 'bang bang, you're dead' thing. In fact that will be quite predominant on the TV in the near future I'm sure.... )

yet that doesn't change the fact that the poll result would be within the lifetime of most our users.

WWIII will happen sooner than we all think (Hope I'm wrong though) and it won't be for oil or money. It will be for the basic needs of humans. like water and food. The exploding population growth and the polution that it creates are dwindling down those basic needs at a fast rate, and what happens when people get hungry? They start revolutions and eventualy all out wars.

But I don't think that nuclear war will be used, it would be sensless to do so because it would wipe out all those basic needs that will be fought for and the Mutual Assured Destruction

In my opinion the 3rd world war has already started, current warzones:

North Korea
Afghanistan
Pakistan
Iraq
Iran
palestine
Turkey
Syria
Egypt
N. Ireland
Russia
etc......

More countries are at war at the same time then any other time in history and just because of geographical separation we choose not to call it a world war.

So true, most people don't realize that WW1 and WW2 were two points in history that will never be repeated on the same scale again, history may judge the modern era as WW3

considering whats happening in the middle east and north afrika there's a hell of of a lot of war going on now!

i dont think afrika has ever been at peace.

a ww3 between superpowers would not be something id like to see. it would seriously decimate the planets population. they are seriously good at killing people now........ i can easily see some nutjob coming up with a genetic / bio weapon that could end the world as we know it.

most serious wars throughout history have been about race or religion. i can see muslim terrorists dropping bioweapons on the west soon if we keep messing in there affairs and or they keep getting poorer. killing countries with a virus will make the twin towers look like a playground fight........
