metalbuzzbob's thread got me wondering about what would be the ultimate rock CD. If you go to Tescos (or KMART etc.) You will see CD collections with similar names, stuffed with an incredible amount of "filler".

So, how about a IH playlist based on Rock music.

Sure there will be the obvious ones like Stairway/Rhapsody etc. But how about the less obvious. Make as many suggestions as you like, doesnt matter when they are from I guess, but I'm going for the '70's with mine.

But basically songs that just "rock".

Blue Oyster Cult : Golden Age of Leather.

KISS : Detroit Rock City

Rory Gallagher : Souped Up Ford

Dire straits - Down To The waterline

Santana - Shes Not There
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tpxZzjdAwcI
Fleetwood Mac - Big Love
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sl6GePRpVlA

I will stop there as i could go on for pages picking slected tracks from my rock collection
EDIT
Some of my earlier suggestions might be too soft methinks after browsing the other links u put (Joe Satriani rox by the way) so I will add

ACDC - Highway To Hell
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fsDpznl8eIs

Black Sabbath - Paranoid
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kz_6jagv_D4

Motorhead - Ace Of Spades
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vcf7DnHi54g

The Buzzcocks - Ever Fallen In Love
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPG6Ak5FASk

and i know this one is overplayed / cliched but its a classic IMHO
Alice Cooper - Poison
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5b8hqT1klE&ob=av2n

edit 2: I think rock is such a broad spectrum it makes an ultimate rock collection impossible as everyone has different tastes even within the rock genre and ones mans rock maybe anothermans icecream or sumtin, u know what i mean, chalk and cheese and all that......

eitherway ill add one more

Metallica - Nothing else Matters

Absolutely agree with that, but it will help to have a list here anyway that can be browsed for suggestions, by people wanting to make a compilation CD ....eg. Ace of Spades, I totally forgot that one, I actually bought a TH game, because that was on it. Smile

Also it can point people towards stuff they never heard, but may like, if they check out the links, eg. Surfin with the Alien, I had heard of it over the years, but never actually heard the track itself, what an amazing guitarist. I never heard of Opeth either so that was a nice find. Smile

ALL THESE REPLIES ARE GREAT... BUT DON'T FORGET WHO IS THE GOD OF ALL GUITARISTS....

ZAKK WYLDE - BLACK LABEL SOCIETY

NO REAL ROCK COLLECTION WOULDN'T BE COMPLETE WITHOUT

CARLOS SANTANA NOT JUST A CD EITHER.. IT WOULD HAVE TO BE THE ENTIRE COLLECTION, INCLUDING THE 24 MINUTE LIVE JAMS LIKE WITH STEVIE RAY VAUGHN AND ERIC CLAPTON. OH THERE ARE TWO MORE TO ADD TO THE LIST.

I COMPLETELY AGREE, ROCK IS A BROAD SPECTRUM TO COVER... WOULD NEED TO BREAK IT DOWN IN TIME LINES JUST TO PUT TOGETHER PLAYLISTS.....

BY THE WAY WHATS UP WITH THE SITE IT ISN'T ALLOWING ME TO SEARCH FOR ANYTHING! Twisted Evil
