- You can use boolean operators (-, |, OR), wildcards (*, ?), and phrase search (") in your query
- For BitTorrent: Paste in a 40 characters info_hash, to search for that particular torrent and get all trackers for it

I don't know what's going on with UTorrent these days, but after having it updated to the latest version (3.0 Stable version > yeah right ) my download speed has dropped to 10kbs (at most), while before I had a steady connection up to 3MBs (and this for the same torrent > lots of seeders, not to much leechers). I've already checked other forums concerning this problem, and tried everything that was advised, but nada.
The weird thing is: I've now just installed BT, to see if it would make a difference, speed-wise that is, did the same settings etc, and yes, BT downloads at full speed (again the same torrent), thus up to 3MBs
Anyone else having this problem? I only noticed it today, since I haven't been d'loading for a few days. |

Followed your advice, but it didn't help. I had again good download speed like usually, but then it went again from 3 MBs to 10kBs in the blink of an eye.
I've tried different torrents (Jaybobs > enough seeders, like usually, so good download speed, as usually) to see if it would have made a difference, but to no avail.
Also, when re-starting Utorrent, the speed goes again up to 3MBs for a few seconds but crashes back in an instant. Soooo weird...
I think that their so called "stable" version 3.0 has a serious bug into it, since other people seem to have the same problem after having updated UT (been reading the uTorrent forum community again today). And to what they are saying, installing an older version isn't helping either.
PS: It's not my provider, that's for sure, otherwise BT wouldn't be able to download at full speed either.
NOTE: yes, I did exit BT prior to re-installing UT, to rule out any conflicts.
So, I'm out of ideas. I'll stick with BT for now. I'll check the uTorrent community daily to see if a solution might be given.
EDIT
: I've noticed something else going wrong with UT 3.0 : when I exit the program it doesn't close at all actually. I can only fully shut it down with task manager. |

Is it possible that one of the settings for uTorrent isn't set right? Or that one of the default settings is faulty? |

Have you just reset all the connection related devices.
Power down everything unplug modem, unplug router, plug in modem let it connect plug in router let it finish then turn the computer back on.
It's possible there is some garbage related to utorrent floating around in your router leaving it off for a few minutes should be enough to ...ahem, clear the tubes... |

I didn't change anything. Well I did, after the problem occurred, but set everything back as it was before, since nothing was helping.

1° I don't use a router.
2° Why should I power off and unplug (and replug offcourse) my modem? Just a question, as I don't see the point of doing so? But I'll give it a try when done d'loading my 2 torrents with BT.
Thanks mates for the advice and hints. |

They have buffers, those buffers can get filled with garbage, sometimes it's related to a specific program.
Same for the routers, which you apparently do not have. |

Ahaaaa... now I understand.
Like I said, I will follow your advise, ones the torrents are done (could be sometime tomorrow though, since I've added 2 more torrents that I just now have found after searching my butt off ). Will keep you updated if it worked or not.
Cheers mates! |

What about your internet and/or network settings? Have any of them been reset? Have you noticed any failure to load page errors with your browser? Because if you're experiencing any of that it could be some kind of connection problem, not a program problem.
Or perhaps a firewall issue? Is it being restricted?
It's also possible you're being throttled by your isp, in which case you should download and install PeerGuardian2. Or perhaps contact your isp and ask them to stop if they are, though I'm not quite sure if contacting them would be effective or safe.
In the mean time just ask and look around in the various torrent client forums. Anyway, hope you get the issue resolved, but if it's beyond just a few isolated occurrences, chances are it's an issue with utorrent itself. |

Definately try what everyone has said above...switching equipment off does so much more than just powering it down as mentioned. Fixes many a problem!
Also, have you thought about just re-installing the old version? I tend not to bother updating utorrent too much, kind of like "it aint broke so don't fix it" mentality I guess.
-Have you configured your ports? - No router, guess that doesn't matter
-Is the up/download ratio configured right?
-Now the program is updated, is it playing games with your firewall?
-Have you told utorrent the speed of your webs? Think this gives it optimum performance
Hope any of this helps |

Simple answer: nope.

Again, nope. Otherwise BT wouldn't be downloading/uploading/seeding at full speed either.

I don't think that could be the problem. Besides that, I already have PG2 installed.

Obviously we are not the only ones, according the uTorrent Community Forums.

Tried it, same result.

Yup, as usual.
-Now the program is updated, is it playing games with your firewall?
Yup, no problems there either. Don't see WHY it should be a problem either.
-Have you told utorrent the speed of your webs? Think this gives it optimum performance.
Like I said, everything is set like it should

do not get PG2.it's old and outdated.if you want something like that get peerblock, they picked up where PG left off.sorry no clue what you have going on.i'm still using the old version of utorrent and see no need to update to 3.my speeds are still maxing out my bandwidth. |

Okay, replaced PG2 with Peerblock. Thanks for the hint. (have a beer on me, mate!)
Ps: to be totally honest, I've never looked at PG2 into detail, I just left it running all the time. Going to do the same with Peerblock too now. But I noticed that you could download other lists too (from I-BlockList). Would it be a good idea to do so or.... I know, to many lists might "damage" your speed too. But I'm talking about this one (seems a good one?): http://www.iblocklist.com/list.php?list=ijfqtofzixtwayqovmxn (hopefully the link will show, thus not interfering with any IH rules. I don't think so, but... |

I suspect you are being throttled by your ISP,
note: when you first start your download you hit 3mb & immediately slow
down to 10kb is a classic sign of being throttled by your ISP,
I use BT too but with the router, when I signed up with them I signed up
for unlimited downloads & later found out that they limit you to 80gb
a month during peak times....
try downloading outside peak time hours & see if your download speed goes
back to normal,
but at peak times it's like you say 10kb but this limit is per month...
next month your dowwnload speed should return to normal,
here's a way that you can check you download/upload total for the month,
it excludes any other form of download/upload outside of utorrent,
in your utorrent click preferences > click transfer cap,
you should see this to give you a rough idea of your total download/upload
amount for this month....
as you can see I have gone over my limit but this doesn't bother me
because I download outside of peak times normally, I can easily hit 200gb
a month but whatever I go over they add on to the next month,
which is a pretty low dirty trick if you ask me but like I said it doesn't
bother me,
hope this is of some help.
