Windows 7: do you use Aero?

I've read that Aero uses the GPU to render some stuff, so the CPU would be supposed to work less. However the Desktop Window Manager uses some memory. I could live without the Aero frou-frous, so I'm not sure where to go.

Actually, I'm switching my theme too often. Shocked

I use it, sure. But then I have a GTX 580 and 16GB of RAM so why not? Laughing

i have used since vista,if you don't want it turn it off.

i have two HD 6850's in this and 16GB of ram,but have used it with 3GB of ram on a single core running vista 32bit..

I use Aero and I only have 4GB ram, no problems with it so far Confused

If you want to turn off da Aero frou-frous for a bit more performance open explorer then right click on computer then scroll down to properties when that window opens click the performance information and tools link in the lower left corner then in that window click on adjust visual effects. now select for best performance and it will make all the changes if you don't like it then change it back. You can also change them one frou fruu at a time Laughing

I think that themes is using more resources than areo does, also gadgets use up their own bit too.

most pc's you buy now can handle them.i usually figure if i have the resources then they are to be used,otherwise why pay more for them.

I like Aero and I use a special theme developed by Mark (aka MrGrim) from Virtual Customs called HUD Red.

I like Aero with custard ........ I also use Aero and Aero Blend with my groovy Windows 8 themes.
