Due to overheating I removed a HDD that contained my download directory.
I copied the directory via usb to one of the remaining drives, but changing the location of the directory in the preferences (of uTorrent) did not help the torrents "see" the downloaded files and the torrents all show as errors.
Putting this problem in the too hard basket, (I thought I would be able to afford a new drive a lot sooner than it turned out), and I used Bit Torrent in the interim.
I now have a replacement drive and have largely uncluttered the remaining drives, except for the download directory.
I would like to move this folder to a drive with more space, but I am concerned that both uT and BT will not be able to "find" the files in the new location.
Can anyone suggest a solution to this problem other than reinstalling the client/s (ideally I would like to go back to just using uT), and reloading the torrents? Idea

Hi Trollster,
Thanks for pointing me to that sticky.
I cut and pasted into Word, and downloaded the utility.
Will need to wait till tomorrow to do it slowly and carefully (moving the directory will take a couple of hours to start with!)
Thanks again for a prompt and helpful reply. I knew I was posting in the right forum, should have taken a little time checking out the stickies shouldn't I? Smile

Having a bit of trouble with this.
When uT shows "Error Invalid Download state, try resuming" I can't actually stop it, that option is greyed out. A Force Recheck stops it, but is that a good way to go?
Also will the bencode-editor work with Bit Tirrent, with BT substituted for uT? The clients are virtually identical ... Confused

forced recheck will confirm the files on disk match the data that utorrent has about the files. its ok let it happen, then restart if it remains stopped

Followed the steps in the tutorial and all is now working fine. Very Happy
I am now enjoying lots of free disk space, better than the near claustrophobia I lived with while the bad drive was unreplaced.
Thanks again to Trollster and LORD! GARTH!
