hi guys good day! just wanna ask a few things plz-
is it possible to use this program to change low quality videos to HD? and if it doesnt is there any program that does that? |
quality lost cannot be regained.it's best to just find and download the best quality possible, usually mkv or m2ts and some groups put out very good mp4. |

You can make the files smaller with the aforementioned Xilisoft, why do you need them smaller though ? |

It can convert the file really small but the smaller the file the less quality the final results will be it also depends on what format you convert the file to so size and the format are important. 4gb is not exaggerated for a movie these days in the torrent world |

A straight ripped blueray should be upwards of 25Gb at a minimum.
Compressed with minimal quality loss it would still be around 10-12Gb at an absolute minimum.
4Gb isn't really that big. At the moment 4GB mkvs provide perhaps the best quality to size compromise. On standard screens the difference would be barely noticeable to human eyes. Ofcourse large screens (40 inches and above) are a different matter.
Xilisoft can make it as small as you want. The point is the smaller you make it, the worse the quality is going to be. Quality once lost cannot be recovered. No software can just add it back in from the air, you know.

and like is there an expert video editor that i can even edit the video's characters? (for example their clothing)
thanks alot |
If you learn how to do stuff like that you should probably join a hollywood editing team or something
Just a guess but Adobe Premier or Sony Vega could possibly be able to do such things. But you have to know how to work special effects in them. These are pro tools and generally take a while to learn to use well. I do not think there is any quick-fix way to change clothing in a video.... |

from the titles and the screenshots i found they are all 720p so most are actually a little small, shame they made them avi rather than mkv.they should still be better than any dvdrip of those movies you're likely to find.actual dvd are going to be 4-9GB and blurays can be as big as 50GB.
if you have poor quality equipment then more compressed files may look fine to you,the better your setup is the more you'll want the bigger files.i only would get a movie under 4GB if it wasn't available as a larger release.those anime-type files would be the exception but even then wouldn't go under 3GB and i prefer mkv,it's a better container.if only mp4 were available i'd go for 1.5GB or larger and wouldn't get avi unless i couldn't find anything else and really wanted to see it. |

Normal movie editing software like Premier pro and Vegas can only add special effects to some degree, you can mask things out with them but it is a major major mission. Adobe after affects will allow you to change the colour of clothes etc (much like in photoshop) but I have never done it myself, I just know you can with it. |

This is a super quick tut on how to use xilisoft video converter to convert file formats. xilisoft is the only converter I have ever found that does a good job. A lot of freeware programs convert the file from one format to another with the simple intent making file readable in a different format but does not actually re encode it thus making the file utter rubbish. This is also good for changing the frame rate of video, the main reason why some video does not play off usb sticks.
Step 1
Open up xilisoft and just drag your video file in (Im using a creative commons movie called Big Buck Bunny made with blender, its pretty cool)
Step 2
You will presented with this, my file is in .avi and for this example Ive got it set up to convert it to a .mpg, but it will convert anything to anything, even video to audio.
You will notice the output size of your video, because I have this set up it is about the same as the original, but most times the initial size will differ. Before you go any further you need to ascertain the properties of the original file as we are going to match them up. You can either just click on your file and you should see all the info at the bottom of your screen (where you have the video, not in here) or failing that get gspot to see what it is. gspot would be a good tool to use if you wanted to match up the audio codec the same.
Step 3
Which will open this
The properties of my original file are
Bit rate 4450
Frame rate 24
size 1280x720
So in the above pic you set the advance profile settings to match it.
Video codec
- leave that but you can change it if need be
Video size
- leave it on Auto
Bit Rate
- click on it, highlight the numbers before the k and change it to what your original file size is.
Frame Rate
- This is sort of important, depending on how you plan to play the video, click on it and in the drop down box change it to either 25 or 29.7 fps (thats your pal and ntsc)
The rest in there just ignore.
When you shut that side window off you should see the output file size very similar to what your original is.
Then hit the convert button (big green thing up the top)
Note on Bit Rate
The Bit rate determines the size of the file, the bigger it is the bigger the file. My example it is 4000 (ish) when you want the file for web play back, portable device playback you can make the Bit rate smaller hence making the file smaller. 1000 Bit Rate is a safe rate however 600 or 800 can still be fine, depending on the file and how you intend to play it. |

Thanks for this tut, trollster.
I downloaded xilisofts dvd ripper by mistake. I assume so, since it won't convert from mkv.
Is there a safe torrent for the converter somewhere?
Thanks in advance! |
