Have done a few searches and cannot find a thread about this, my searches never seem to come up, anyway,so far i have owned a Sinclair zx spectrum 48k which i still have, a sega master system 2, NES (not SNES) a Sega Megadrive 1, GameCube, PS1+2. I stopped gaming there really, i borrow PS3 and XBOX. My question really is does anyone remember the spectrum or still own one and what games did you like the best. i had around 300 tapes lol. you were either Atari, Commodore or Sinclair player. i couldnt get enough of EXLON, PAPERBOY, DIZZY and BATTY.

My first ever computer was an Amstrad 464, it had a green screen, a few years later I got a Sega Master System 1, I was posh as I got the one with the gun lol, it also had a built in game but I can't remember what it was called now, I think it was Alex.... something.

How technology has changed in a few short years.

The Amstrad was crap, I couldn't even use it for doing homework on, which is why I bought it in the first place, all it could do was play low res games on tape like the Commodore which took ages to load and after playing you couldn't even save your progress so you would start from the beginning the next time you played lol.

I also got the Mega Drive, it was the last console I bought for years before buying the PS2, another big gap then I got a laptop, after almost burning that out because I had reached it's limits I now have a desktop which I am now also in the process of upgrading, https://ca.isohunt.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=728117&highlight=asrock I will be getting the Corsair 800D case next.

I also had an Xbox360 for about 6 months but I got bored of it lol.

You would be amazed how easy it is to build your own PC, I know looking into the case it looks really scary, but as long as you take your time and be careful you cant really go wrong, the plugs and cables will only go where they are supposed to go, but as you said if you don't use your PC a lot there isn't much point going through the hassle, I think the only benefit to building your own (other than pleasure) is the money you save not having to pay store prices and someone to put it all together. Very Happy

Water cooling will be my next challenge though as I have never done anything like that before and as you can imagine, get that wrong and it's all over. Image

if you shove really hard you can get a cable to connect anywhere, but it doesnt work very well after Laughing

does PONG count?
my first ever computer was the timex sinclair 1000, it sold for 1oo$ and i learned sinclair BASIC
then in grade 5 we had an experimental pilot class of computer science with commodore pets, and i learned (on my own) about computer architecture, and how to program in assembler language, then came the apple kit ordered from the back of an electronics magazine, needless to say now ive had extreme exposure to computers and digital electronics from an early age, and games were so ubiquitous, in the days of modems, war dialing, and basement bulletin boards (BBS)
now the wifi era has brought the BBS idea back and on steroids with P2P networks and geurilla WIFI networks.
i hope MESH routers become a retail reality soon, then the internet, its $ cost and its censorship problems will be irrelevent
