Anyone else read the article from torrentfreak posted on Isohunt facebook site?
https://www.facebook.com/isoHunt
http://torrentfreak.com/i-know-what-you-downloaded-on-bittorrent-111210/
Interesting stuff. I went on outta curiosity to see if my ip address was published but got
"Hi. We have no records on you."
Good to know
If they do have records for your ip address and what you downloaded, you can have your ip 'de-listed'.

| Most people know that BitTorrent is far from anonymous, but seeing all your recent downloads listed on a public website is still quite a revelation. This is exactly what Youhavedownloaded.com does. The developers of the site want to make people aware of the public nature of BitTorrent, and are currently working on a more anonymous version of the leading file-sharing technology. |
The stats that site has thus far collected:
| Quote: |
Estimated statistics
Users in database: 51,925,000
Torrents: 107,400
Files: 1,868,000
Files size: (101.19 TB)

I don't download anything ...... well nothing directly to my PC anyway, I have a seedbox for uploading/downloading and can stream films directly from the seedbox, also I use WinSCP to transfer torrents to and from the seedbox with an encrypted connection (SFTP). |

well if the download history matches yours and it actually looks like its your details, it may just be that location they are showing is your neast exchange, or isp provider. So thats why location would not maybe show too accurate.
If its not you, sounds like maybe the ip address you have, used to be used by someone else. So the isp your with, had given that address to someone else before you, and then when you joined, you got it.
It also wont work with dynamic ip address', though most people would be on a static one as far as their external ip address is concerned.
As for not being on the list, dunno really. Maybe from using peerblock? Or maybe as i have never used a vpn/proxy when downloading. Or maybe just lucky Nothings 100% secure. I wouldnt worry about it though. You can also request that your ip address is removed from the site listings i think. |

Well that wont work for me as I don't have a seedbox or a server.
@Bazz
I don't use proxy either I don't know anything about them, My exchange is no where near Ponty. Peerblock, I find, is a bit weird as it also blocks web pages like c-net, I'll have to tinker with it some more I think and try the site again. |

i only ever run peerblock when downloading/uploading. But theres an option to prevent it from interferring with http. Just tick the option for 'allow http' and it shouldnt interfere with any sites. Far as i know anyway...
edit: one my mates just checked there. lol it shows most of his download history recently. All kids movies for his kids, and dreamweaver. |

The site is only showing 3 torrents that I have downloaded and lets be honest I have downloaded a lot more than that, and I can't ask to have my IP address removed because you need to have a Facebook account to do so.
I haven't been worried about what, and amount I have been downloading thus far so I'm not about to start now lol.
EDIT: The torrents listed for me aren't even recent they are from a month or so ago. |
