- You can use boolean operators (-, |, OR), wildcards (*, ?), and phrase search (") in your query
- For BitTorrent: Paste in a 40 characters info_hash, to search for that particular torrent and get all trackers for it

Hmmm... Bit Torrent chat, Lounge or News? I couldn't decide so went with the first option.
It looks like The Pirate Bay may be blocked in the uk anytime now.
This is not good news and shows signs of censorship on the internet, which isn't what the internet is about.
BT Junkie has gone along with a few direct download sites, and now this?

The British High Court has passed a ruling that could see BitTorrent tracker site the Pirate Bay blocked in the UK by June. In only the second case of its kind, a Judge ruled that the website breaches copyright laws, according to the British press.
The Pirate Bay supporters have previously compared the website to Google, arguing that the website isn’t breaching copyright laws as it doesn’t actually host the files that show up in its search results. |
Who's next?
Nothing more to add...sorry...
[EDIT]
Ooops forgot the link!

^^That's sad...
Guess I read somewhere that they'll eventually block TPB everywhere. As a backup they made a compressed magnets torrent. The whole downloadable TPB magnet links (1.64 mil torrents) are meant to increase the portability. Just search "whole pirate bay" in PB site and get yourself the database. And search "thelocalbay" there to get yourself a portable magnet searcher for KAT and TPB. Think they saw it coming...

The Pirate Bay is planning to stop hosting .torrent files and switch over to “magnet links” only, which will help reduce bandwidth usage and make it easier to switch hosts if the site gets shut down.
Ditching .torrent files has another interesting advantage, though: it means the entire Pirate Bay site can be downloaded in a 90MB zip file (164MB unzipped) and carried around on a USB stick.
Pirate Bay user allisfine wrote a script to scrape the titles and magnet links of The Pirate Bay’s 1,643,194 torrents, allowing anyone to have a backup of the site in their pocket.
Since the torrent files themselves are no longer necessary,
the owners of these copies could continue sharing and downloading files even if the Pirate Bay’s website went down.

dont profess to know much about it ,usually stay away from these threads. but this is worrying.
tracking sites also? not good.
might be a daft question but will there be ways round things like this or are we inevitably doomed and letting these f****rs win |

They claim it's about the law and human decency to abide by it. Everyone knows it's actually about money.
They DON'T have a right to censor anything. I am aware that that's not always a good thing but the internet is kinda like international waters...
There are just no rules.
Whats this gonna stop? huh? Pedophiles...? Nope. Rapists and murders...? Nope. Decent people who pay taxes, don't leech of the government and are an asset to society...? That's the one there, yep.
I don't use TPB anyway but this still gets on my tits.
Edit: afn: They can't stop it. These sites are used for so much more that 'illegally' downloading a movie. The last time I checked the UK was a democracy which means that the people who pass these laws work for us, the tax payers. Maybe I'll stop paying my taxes and how they like that. Democracy is a lie.
I'm away to download 150GB of movies I'll never watch now just to piss off some fat, rich executive in a suit who thinks that he actually matters. |

a 90 MB "scrape file" is a fairly small file that could be distributed, and added to with some acompaning tools then redistributed, very quickly, and easily using many methods and channels, TPB is undergoing an evolution to a fully distributed distribution system, away from a system of distributed server structure. the major vulnerability of P2P, the tracker, and static hosted index server, must yield to a migrating server model, by mirroring, or rehosting with preemptive broadcasts to authenticated clients for the new site links.

The latest version of TheLocalBay can be had
here
It also has a new feature the magnet grabber which basically you copy in a torrent hash and it will then create a magnet and start downloading. I really thought this would make a bigger splash than it did, I think it's a handy tool, and am proud to say I got TPB and KAT archived. It appeals to the good boyscout in me to be prepared for such things. Many will wish they had this once it's too late. |

perhaps a very different geurilla infrastructure, like was mentioned before regarding aerial drones bridging wifi, and specifically the PB creating an aerial drone WAN |

Vodafone in Ireland blocked TPB a long time ago due to legal pressure.
They tried to get UPC to do the same, UPC told them to phuq off, it went to court and the court ruled that UPC were good to go, so you can still access TPB here. |

Aww man. I can't believe I created a new thread when this one was sitting here. Whats worse is I've already posted in this one before! So embarrassing......
*Facepalm
Regardless, I'm on virgin media so apparently I'll be one of the first to be blocked =[
But then again I have no idea what I'm talking about. Where am I? |

Puff Puff Pass Wookie!
Seriously though, this is bad news, not just for TPB but all other sites deemed bad by the corporate tyrants. |
