right guys and girls who has the answer to my problem?!?!?!
my new desktop seems to be being a shit!! when trying to turn it on the lights and fan come on for one second then turns off and repeats the process every 5 seconds without powering up! it does have 3 years warranty and the company has ask'd me to send it back for repair/replace but as we speak i am on it!! because my pedigree chums it seems to want to turn on after a really long cool down i.e i've left it for about 4 days like i did last week and it comes on fine but i bet like before... tomorrow it will all happen again!!!! any thoughts oh masters of computer wisdom??
edit... i did change the psu as thought this was the problem but same happened............

are just a few suggestions.. also vid or audio cards not set in properly may do this too..
newer boards have lights on them.. probably by the bios battery area... usually they are a code to tell you what is not running right.. there will be a guide in your mobo manual to these issues

miss'd out saying after it didnt work before they sent me a new psu which i fitted and it work'd fine so i install'd a new graphics card hence not wanting to take the thing apart and send it off as its doing it again!! but i'm on it now and its working fine???? most frustrating... i did have a little poke around to make sure everything was in tight and i also checkd if the mother board wasnt touching the back plate in case it was shorting it out i'm not a computer builder though

If it's an LGA775 Motherboard, check the socket 'pins' One or more may be mis-aligned. Re-alignment can be done with a magnifier and a pin/needle. If it's not an LGA775 Mb, ignore me and i'll go away
none... it just try's to power up then goes off!! i think i'll send it back but i was just about to box it up and send it off (after putting the old graphics card back in) and thought i'd give the beast a go and the bloomin thing turns itself on!! and even after a few reboots and complete shutdowns like before i bet tomorrow it wont work!!??
bugger!!!!!!!!!!!! just wasted my 1000th post with a rant............ lol... but hey dez sounds about right eh lol

Do you have the PC on a surge protector? This could be cause by flaky power from the outlet, one of the first things your pc does during POST is verify consistent power signal.
