You see now this really pisses me off, I'm not a Lady Gaga fan but I have nothing against her or what she gets up to but this is just typical.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-18224783

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/music/music-news/9225687/Lady-Gaga-warned-about-offending-Muslims-during-world-tour.html

http://bulletinoftheoppressionofwomen.com/2012/04/28/lady-gaga-warned-about-offending-indonesian-muslims/

So certain Muslim people in Indonesia think they are religious, they are doing nothing wrong the way they are and Lady Gaga is the 'infidel' much like the rest of the West (usually).

Hypocrites is all I can say here, completely hypocritical nonsense and even though it has nothing to do with me its just really annoying to read it.

So what religion favours violence against your fellow man (generally these days), the religious cleric's or whoever want to protect their way of life and culture by banning an over the top singer and if they don't get their way they will resort to violence!? Is that the religious way of the Muslim faith then?

Surely anyone would think THEY are the infidels for threatening that kind of behaviour against innocent people?

Surely THAT kind of behaviour is 'the devils work' and not just some female in tight revealing outfits.

The funny thing is the show sold out in 2weeks it seems so there are apparently plenty of infidels in Indonesia who want to see the 'devils messenger' perform. Yet because of some idiots many people have to be disappointed, the religious (extremists? can I use that term here? seems so doesn't it) few spoil it for everyone as officials bow down to their demands. I never knew Indonesia was run by a religious dictatorship.

On another note, despite all this its perfectly fine for the same country to make and show a violent film like 'The Raid'! So that isn't the devils work and blasphemous and sinful and the destroyer of morals blah blah blah....

What a load of complete tosh, if your offended then don't watch, simple really and maybe you could respect other cultures also for once huh.

not just Muslim mate......

Her concert in South Korea in April was an adults-only event after protest from Christian groups.

Protests also took place in the Philippines, as Christian groups accused her of being blasphemous.

^^agreed^^ it should be banned completely. i heard about this ga ga thing on the radio and funnily enough i thought i bet its still sold out. i may be being ignorant but im sure its all the males screaming infidels and the women buying the tickets on the sly Laughing

i completely agree with you hubbs the hypocrisy of it all is staggering. ones again it just strengthens my opinion that religion is one big contradiction and is bent to suit. Again- not that it could really be enforced but i think it should be banned/illegal.

I read that yes but the difference is is the fact that those concerts went ahead, the religious extremists in Indonesia got it cancelled.

indeed but if it were 240 million christians ???
Ninety percent of Indonesia's 240 million people identify themselves as Muslim, making it the world's largest Islamic-majority nation. With that number the % of hard liners also grows exponentially and I believe it would with Christian hardliners.
I do not defend their position but I am 54 and have witnessed some pretty weird shit.....
Dutch girl in Florida 6 months jail time and a 1000 USD fine for bathing topless in Florida when she went their on holiday in the 80's......
Beatles in the beginning banned from playing in the USSR as they were deemed decadent....
Elton John being allowed to play in Russia as long as he toned down some songs as Saturday nights all right for fighting.....
In some respects I just do not think the entire gaga is worth the time of day....that she gets this type of reaction is imo pretty much a given considering where she is wanting to play......after all she is not slated for Saudi Arabia or other lands where such a show as she would give would be refused before she could even consider selling tickets.
I have been to indonesia and its people are pretty laid back in general but....they do tend to take religion quite seriously. They do not shove it down your throat and you can be an atheist without issues but they like to keep things a little more subdued than say the average western country.
Gaga is pretty extreme.....to say that her lyrics are anti christian or insulting to religion are of course something that could be seen either way. Both camps have their own opinion.......in a world of say live and let live then i think gaga and her entourage are very much a borderline to what is deemed acceptable and in playing Asia for money which is the bottom line....she does not go their cause she loves them little yellow people but she welcomes the increased income from sales etc. So.....I think she should bow out and not make a drama....
When i travel I try to respect the host countries wishes whether i would agree with their points of view or not.....after all it is i that am visiting. Had she done a concert in London or Paris and such religious extremism occur then I would agree 100% that the nutters be put behind lock and key.......however she was wanting to play to an audience of say 50,000 people that actually equals less than a 10oth of a % of the total population of indonesia.......... If only 1% or 24 million people say piss off then in a democratic sense she pisses into the wind whichever way you look at it.

I like pissing in the wind, I like to do it side ways and watch it get launched everywhere.

I was recently given a booklet asking if I was a good person, if I followed in God's path. By this books' standards, I'm going to hell.

Simply because I have lied, or loved, or hated. Does your imaginary friend in the sky not want you to feel??

And...my favourite, taking the Lords name in vain. GOD! It's all ridiculous. Lady Gaga is nuts, but she's not the devil, nor is her music.
