Much faster for me but then I just moved ISP so that might have something to do with it. Think you guy's should sort out some comments functionality I'm getting fed up of downloading dodgy torrents and spy/adware riddled files. Good stuff overall though just a few bad apples. |

Been much faster guys. You were in the right putting up "helluva faster" ^^. BTW I know this isn't the place but you guys should really make it so that when your page loads the search box is already ready(already..) to type into. Just my advice which counts for nothing. |

I'd say faster and slower. Faster, because we move quicker. Slower, because we take our time.
But it still flickers. |

It seems like Isohunt has been 2 DAYS behind, posting torrents for about 3days now.
Demonoid has all the latest torrents but ISOHunt doesnt list them yet.
First of all, some self-congratulating is in order. We have worked feverishly to get our double-sized cluster during the few days of downtime from Jan. 16 to Jan. 22, with a more complicated multi-homed network setup. There are still some server stability issues left that's kernel/driver related, but all servers are humming nicely, most of the time.
I've alluded to our hardware cost at ~$40,000. I'll quote some numbers in terms of processing power for those of you that asked. Our cluster has a total of 34 Opteron cores, 70 GB in ram, and 30 hard drives ranging from SATAs to 15k rpm SCSIs. Why all the hardware? Because our search index have almost doubled in size since June when I did the CBC interview. That's at a rate of doubling every 9 months, from both the growth of BitTorrent use and isoHunt's improved indexing. And Moore's Law is only double every 18 months.
A few thanks to the people who have made this move/upgrade possible. SecretSquirrel, our chief of operations who have assembled the hardware and setup most of the cluster, robbat2, our Gentoo Linux mad scientist, and Spike, our new tech and hand at the datacenter. And thank you again for the generous donations you made while we were down.
Now, back to the title of this post. Do you find isohunt.com, torrentbox.com and podtropolis.com faster or slower, after our move to our new cluster in Canada? Just a subjective measure from you, in terms of page loading responsiveness. I'm curious. ;)
|

Demonoid does not want our bot "isobot" to list their .torrent files. So there will always be a delay until our members up their torrents to our site. |

We've had a stuck cronjob that prevented updates to the search index. This has been resolved. |

Correction: we don't index login only sites by choice. Demonoid's torrents are login only and hence are not indexed directly. People cross-post torrents there to other "public" sites however so they get indexed from those.
Our indexing rate is such that they would appear in our search index no longer than about 3-4 hours after they appear in a public site we index. |
