dude, its some BS from a scifi writer, it's a fcking cult man, just cause retarded ass celebs embrace it doesn't legitimize it. Oh and modern monotheistic organised religion is retarded as well, your one god can bite me.

dude, i don't care if you aren't christian at all, scientology doesn't come close to any logic. i f you can take for granted miracles and God, Christianity makes good sense . scientology just doesn't f**kin compute, even given miracles and xenu. it doesn't have any historical grounding, just some jackass figured out how to get rich off of dumb people.

Scientology is more than a cult, it is the new mafia hiding in sheeps clothing. they destroy people's lives, kill people, extort money, intimidate. they have all the characteristics of the mafia, but worse in that they hide behind protection granted to religion in most countries. I think scientology should be considered an illegal organization and its leaders thrown in prison. of course, that will never happen. it would be a huge win for everyone if our american government considered it a non-religion like in Germany.

Same goes with scientology. If you ignore all the f**kin stupid bits, it makes good sense. Thats how religion/cults work.

I seem to recall the best explanation of a difference between a cult and a religion:

A cult only becomes a religion when it gets political power.

Seems pretty close to me.

Why Lord Xenu (or whatever the spelling is for the scientology folks) is so ridiculous when virgin births arent, i still havent figured out.

Seems like the same scam, different day.

At the end of the day, people should take up Ignorantology. The firm belief that nothing is really known, or can be.

I'd say South Park hit it on the nose.

In my opinion (and I'm entitled to it so please spare me any bible thumping pm's), ALL organized religions are cults...each one with a set of rules based on (some interpretation of something that somebody) has read and gotten others to believe. It is within our human instincts to want to belong to some sort (any sort) of community and these groups use our fear of death combined with our need for faith to drag us into their organizations and help pay the costs of recruiting new members...Scientology to me is a crock of s#$t...but so are all the others. If you form a group and call it a "Religion", you get huge tax breaks and the right live by your own moral code, etc. eg: If I were the doctor who had to refuse a blood transfusion to a dying child or psychotropic medications to a schizophrenic based on religious beliefs, I would take it all the way to the supreme court over and over again!!! New "Faiths" are springing up every day..each one with rules more ridiculous than the ones before it. The problem lies within the fact that each person reading the Bible (or whatever reading material they are basing their beliefs on)..can interpret in a totally different way (Jehovah's New World Translations of the Old Scriptures)..differs in it's message than the (Mormon's King James Version of the Holy Bible). How can two different religions have two seperate belief systems when they are both based on the same book? People don't need to attend a weekly service or knock on doors to confirm what their own beliefs are.

I don't know how else to put this
these guys need to be removed from the planet.
which would be suitable being as how they all seem to believe they have little aliens "living" inside them anyway.

Cult. By far. But then again, that's only definition by today's political correctedness...

If I lived back in medieval ages when the church was on the rise, I'd say that that Christianity BS was a cult...

The Encyclopedia of Science Fiction lists Sam Moskowitz as the first good historian of science fiction [among other things]. In 1994 Moskowitz wrote an affidavit which states:

"After speaking for about an hour at the meeting, Mr. Hubbard answered questions from the audience. He made the following statement in response to a question about making money from writing: `You don't get rich writing science fiction. If you want to get rich, you start a religion.' "
The affidavit states that this was the 7 Nov 1948 meeting of the Eastern Science Fiction Association, of which Moskowitz was the director.

Guess he said it all back then. My bet is when you finaly reach level 100 (whatever) within Scientology they finaly reviel the "Ultimate" truth : "Thanks for making us rich, Baby... here, share in some of the money"
