Ah hah a guilt story... well. I guess I'm not bothered either way really. I just think America needs to grow up, and taking a much more laid back position on the presence of genetilia in media I think would help, instead of keeping it so "secret" and "taboo" when every f**kin body has it.

you dont need some steamy scene in a movie, you get the jist of it.

Almost counts as spam, just thought it's funny you said "you get the jist of it" because jist means *insert your favorite word for the climax here* around these parts Embarassed So basically it sounds like you're talking out of both sides of your mouth Rolling Eyes

A sex scene is nothing more then the visual connection between two characters on screen. If the script is written well enough to lead up to the scene and shows character interaction in a tasteful manner then why shouldn't it be included in the movie?

Parents already know what type of movie they are going to watch, so why bring the kids along if the content is of a mature nature? If parents are intolerable of nudity then please take your kids to a Disney flick and leave the mature movies to everyone else.

For the parents that don't seem quite interested in the movie rating system or can't seem to remember what it is, here it is.

Image
G - General Audiences
All ages admitted.

Image
PG - Parental Guidance Suggested
Some material may be inappropriate for younger children.

Image
PG-13 - Parents Strongly Cautioned
Some material may be inappropriate for children under 13 years old.

Image
R - Restricted
People under 17 are not admitted without parental guidance.

Image
NC-17 - No Children Under 17 Admitted
Nobody under 17 is admitted.

After seeing this movie rating system, if you bring your child to a movie and then complain about the content of the movie then you not the movie are to blame.

Rofl, just so little people don't watch anything explicit and have 18 years of joy, we have to live the rest of our lives with boring vids?

What's even funnier is that they'll still learn about it in the end, so what the heck, use the ratings, they're there for a reason, and let's get on with the spanking of that ****** Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

I say make sex scenes PG-13, and raise physical violence to R. Laughing

I can't help but question why it's o.k. for kids to see one person killing another, but unchaste to see two people making love.

Just be like the Dutch, French and Israelis whom don't really have an issue with nudity or sex scenes in films played throughout the day.

Point is, parents should simply know what their kids of watching. End of story.

That is unecessary. And Everyone wonders whay there are so many STDS,Aids and teen pregnancies. well there is your reason!

I've never seen someone get pregnant from a movie. It I had to come up with a reason why teens have sex I would say misinformation and HORMONES not Monster's Ball.

While, yeah, no one's getting pregnant from watching sex scenes, unnecessary and explicit sex in movies and tv definitely do add to the idea that sex is no big deal, that it's just a casual thing; "everybody's doing it." I think that mentality actually can have an impact on teens.

I agree with this, its how its presented. I think the media has a big responsibility for the number of teenage pregnancies by the way it presents sex to young people similarly STDs how often do you see actors stopping to put on a condom? etc

But at around 12 i was watching porn with my mates so you cant really stop kids from watching what they want anyways so whilst theres not much point in banning sex in films it should be presented responsibly.

To be honest i find love scenes in miovies pretty dull, id rather have an extra 'X' amount of minutes of story and character development and if the idea is to titilate or sensationalise you can do that through implication whilst developing the plot / story / charcter of the film

Casual nudity is another issue, we all have bodies, why be ashamerd of them? but does displaying a pair of breasts (for example) actually add anything to the plot?

I watch a film to see a good story, in Swordfish for example the topless sunbathing with (damn cant remember her name, famous actress anyways) adds to the character development as it is the way it is presented that says what kind of person she is supposed to be but in other cases it can be pretty pointless

Its not what you show but how you show it.

ill say this about it.my son is now 13 and has probably done more than i at 13.and i let them watch what they want to watch within standards of course they don't sit around watching porn.but if they see the occasional boob big whoop.who cares .they know what they are.if that is what America is so freaking worried about then you all need a life.if they are younger than 10 yea id say watch it while they are in bed or something if you feel that strong about it.i look at it like this as i said my son is 13 he is going to do what he wants to do .i just try to keep control over what i can .he'll watch it when im not home.so why not watch it when im here watching it. my ten yr will just turn her head..my son is growing fast already taller than i am .(took after his grandfather 6ft2)..and i dont want him 30 years old going on a honey moon and asks his wife what the hell is that and what do i do with it?.come on america lighten up a little they know more about sex in kindergarten then we did in high school.just life .let it go.and he knows about STD's cause they teach SEX ED IN MIDDLE SCHOOL.hell probably get em started in Elementary ...my daughter comes home all the time asking questions.life peeps your son or your daughter do have to grow up...someday.....and be somones Wife Whore Prostitute Nympho ect ect ..its life is all.of course you wdont want that .and if you think about it it's not the movies that make them think sex is COOL its the damn peer pressure.i was 16 and almost had sex with a 12 year old at a party when i was of course 16.so they have started younger and all you can do about it is tell em the wrongs and the rights and hope they take it to heart.

PS. is there a Post your pic thread?

/agree

I second that first notion.

As for the second, once again... we glorify violence and hate, but shun love and romance...

Why bother? It has already been proven that at one point, nudity had been a big thing in theaters before a rating system. The obvious thing is that
[list=]1)obviously it would boost movie sales + boosting our economy/entertainment
2)Some movies just NEED a sex scene!
3)Kids will either see it in a movie, or on the internet. It is unfair to blame the consumer because a few parents can't keep track of their children!

The actions of individuals in any type of media (movies, tv, print, etc.) have the potential to influence children, this is true. However, the amount of influence it can exert is proportional to the amount of information and guidance that is provided to the child. A movie could make a kid want to go out and have sex, but I think only in the absence of any type of meaningful parental guidance.

I don't think sex scenes should be removed. Like mentioned, it's the parent's responsibility to make sure their children are not watching things they believe to be inappropriate.

Allowing sex into films? It already has happened. Think about it. 300 had a sex scene, and a rape ish type scene. I wouldnt mind sex in the movies, but something hardcore and exposing would be over the top. Ya sex is natural, but would you want your children to know what sex is at age 6? isnt that why they made rating movies a law?

Sex is allowed in films. theres just a certain limit as to what can be exposed sexually. hardcore sex movies in the theatres? ya right. try again buddy.

GG. lol

but great topic. Kudos

the idea that movies make kids want to have sex is plainly ridiculous. teenagers do what their bodies are telling them to, and censoring television and movies is not going to change that. if a teenage boy has chance to have sex with a girl he is going to, whether or not he has ever seen a movie with a sex scene in it is irrelevant.
