Foobar2000

It is the best free audio player in the world.

For multimedia, VLC wins for versatility and ease of use.

No .spc support = fail.

-edit- There is a third-party plugin, thus reducing said fail.

Talking about VLC which I use, I hope people have upgraded in the last couple of months.

Quote:
VLC media player 0.8.6c, VideoLAN Security Advisory 0702

2007-06-17

VLC media player versions 0.8.6b and lower suffer from a security vulnerability in the CDDA, Vorbis, Theora and SAP plugins. More technical details are available in our advisory.
An updated release of VLC is available which includes a few other fixes as well. The full list of changes can be found here.
We strongly recommend all users to update to this new version.

For music I've been a winamp fan for years. Since they've added support for 24bit audio I don't have much of a reason to use much else. There are some other players which have the potential to sound a tad better or have more features but I love the look and interface of winamp.

For video I use Media Player Classic religiously. Extensive audio/video options to get the best quality I've seen in a player and you don't even have to install it. Absolutely brilliant!

I only use winamp for mp3s and other audio files but I usually use DivX for video. Ive had a few series of problems with both but I think i'll leave it at that so I don't start a flame war.
